The Gospel

It's the full story of life crushed into one sentence.
The entirety of humanity in the palm of your hand.
 Listen, it's intense.

God. Our. Sins. Paying. Everyone. Life.

The greatest story ever told that's hardly ever told. God. Yes. God. The maker and giver of life. And by life I mean any and all manner and substance. Seen and unseen, what can and can't be touched. Thoughts, image, emotions. Love, atoms and oceans. God. All of it his handiwork. One of which is his masterpiece. Made so uniquely that angels look curiously. The one thing in creation, made with his imagery. A concept so bold. The reason that I'm born. How God breathed into man and became a living soul. Born with the intent of being intimately, infinitely fond. Creator and creation held in eternal bond. It was placed in perfect paradise until something went wrong. A species got deceived and started lusting for his job. An ordinance of complaints as if the system and working. And used that same breath he graciously gave us to curse Him. And that sin spread thorough our soul. Genome by genome. And by nature of your nature, your species participated in the mutiny.

Our. Yes. Our sins.

Inherited by nature. Blackening our hearts. But it was over before it started. Deceived from day one. Then led away by our own lust. There isn't a religion in the world that doesn't agree that there is something wrong with us. The question is: What is it? How do we fix it? Are we eternally separated from a God that may or may not have existed? But that's another subject. Besides, trying to prove God is like defending a lion. It doesn't need our help. Just open the cage. Lets move on to how our debt can be paid. Short and sweet.

The problem is sin. Yes. Sin.

It's a cancer. An asthma. Choking out our life force. Forcing separation from a perfect and holy God. And the only way to get back is to get back to perfection. But silly us. Trying to pass the course of life without referring to a syllabus. This is us: Heap up your good deeds. Chant, pray, meditate. But all of that, of course, is spraying cologne on a corpse. Or you could choose to ignore it, as if something don't stink. it's like stepping in dog poop and refusing to wipe your shoe. But all of that ends with, how good is good enough? Take your silly list of good deeds and line them up against perfection. That's life past your pay grade. The cost of your soul, well you ain't got a big enough piggy bank. But you could give it a shot. But I suggest you throw away the list. Cause even your good acts are an extension of your own selfishness. But here's where it gets interesting. I hope your closely listening. Please don't get it twisted. It's what makes out faith unique. Here's what God says is part A of the Gospel. You can't fix yourself. Quit trying, it's impossible. Sin brings death. Give God his breath back. You owe him. Totally separated. And the only way to get back is for someone to die in our place. And that person has to be perfect or the payment and permanent. If and when you find a perfect person, get them to willingly trade their perfection for you sin and death. Clearly since the only one that can meet God's criteria is God; God sent himself as Jesus to pay the cost for us.

His righteousness. His death. Functions as payment. Yes. Payment.

Wrote a cheque with his life and at the Resurrection we all cheered because that meant the cheque cleared. Pierced feet. Pierced hands. Blood stained. Son of man. Fullness. Forgiveness. Free passage into the Promised Land. That same breath that God breathed into us, he gave up to redeem us. And anyone and everyone. And by everyone I mean everyone, who puts their faith and trust in him and him alone can stand in full confidence of God's forgiveness. And here's what the promise is: You are guaranteed full access into perfect unity.

Simply by believing in Christ and Christ alone, you are receiving life. Yes. Life.

 This is the Gospel.
God. Our. Sins. Paying. Everyone. Life.

I feel like I don't know anything. Except the one thing.

Recently, I've felt God begin to open my eyes a little more each day. He's put in my heart a passion to wipe out injustice and to spread His Love throughout the world.

Each day people around the world, from the city in a first world country to a remote area of jungle in the middle of Africa, are subject to a night without shelter, without food, clean water, access to medical facilities.

And each day, people pass them by. On the streets, on the television. These people have nothing. Millions of people die from AIDS, dirty water, inhuman living conditions, malnutrition, and numerous medical conditions, each day. They have no hope of a better future. They don't think to themselves "things are going to better in a few years." They have no perception of what better is. They are stuck.

There is only one thing that can turn that around.
The Love of Christ.

Jesus died on the cross for us. The ultimate sacrifice.
Love.

With love comes giving. With giving come hope. With hope comes change. With change comes life.

The Love of Christ will change this world.

There are millions of people who haven't even heard the Gospel before.
And unless we do something about that, this world will collapse around us.

It is our call to spread the Good News around the world so that every person can rejoice in it.

The Great Commission.

Love God. Love People.

Faith

Hope

Love.

The Best Thing

Lately, I've just been so blown away by what God is doing in my life and in the lives of the people around me.

I've started to see that all the problems that I was faced with at the beginning of the year have just shrunk. And that's because of how big my God is. I was perpetually tired, grumpy and apathetic. When I found out that I was going to be doing lighting the whole year at Elevate in the Hutt, I wasn't looking forward to it. I was thinking stuff like "I'm going to be so tired" "This is going to cost me money on food each week" and "I'm going to get fat because all i'm going to eat is KFC".

But now, on hindsight, I'm thinking how much of an egg I was thinking that. I'm so stoked right now to be part of the revival in the Hutt. It's just going off.
On a side note, i'm looking forward to the new Planetshakers album which comes out tomorrow!!! It's gonna be mean!

My God is so big,
So strong and so mighty,
There's nothing my God cannot do.

Faith Hope Love and Other Things

Why do we hold onto Faith when we seem so abandoned, so lost?
Why do we hold onto Hope whilst storms rage around us and the Earth shakes?
Why do we hold onto Love when lives are broken and injustice is strong?

We hold onto Faith because we know that our God will pick us up out of the darkest place.
We hold onto Hope because we know our God will build us back.
We hold onto Love because only the love of Christ can fix lives.

We only need these three:
Faith
Hope
Love

The Greatest of these is Love.

When years of time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men, who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong.
